How Panoramic X-Ray Imaging Systems Works

A panoramic X-ray imaging system—such as 3D Panorex—is non-invasive, safe, and beneficial for patients. Panorex X-ray images involve a small burst of light that rotates in a semicircle around your child’s head to capture dental images. And, unlike traditional X-rays that require placing a film in the patient’s mouth, the images recorded by panoramic radiography are digital.

Before taking images, our dental team gently adjusts the 3D Panorex dental imaging device so that your child’s chin rests gently on a small stand. Your child bites down on a positioning tool, ensuring the teeth and jaw are in the correct position.

Once your child is comfortable and ready to proceed, the 3D Panorex moves around your child’s head, beginning at one side of their jaw and ending at the other side. The whole process takes only minutes to perform. And, your child will be in the comfort of our virtual aquarium, surrounded by friendly aquatic creatures.
