Tooth Implants: An Attractive, Reliable Solution for Missing Teeth

While missing teeth can change the appearance of your face, they can also affect:

  • Your jaw alignment
  • The way you speak
  • Your ability to bite and chew
  • The risk of developing periodontal disease

The sooner you invest in replacement teeth, the better your chances are of avoiding these dental issues (and others). We recommend dental implants because they are strong and long-lasting as artificial teeth replacements. And, implants both look and feel similar to your natural teeth.

Dental implants are also versatile in that you can either have a single, one-tooth implant, a supported bridge, or set of dentures.

How Does Dental Implant Surgery Work?

It’s important to understand that multiple steps are involved in placing dental implants. And it can take several months of healing in between procedures. Don’t worry, though! Our experienced dentists are practiced in making the process as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

Basically, dental implant surgery steps include:

  • Implant Placement

With the aid of X-ray or other imaging technology, the dental implant is secured into the jaw. Some patients may require a bone graft if reinforcement of the jawbone is needed.

  • Implant Healing

The implant may take several months to fuse into the bone completely. During recovery, your dentist may provide you with a temporary crown.

  • Artificial Tooth Placement

Once the implant is firmly rooted in the jaw and has healed, the permanent replacement tooth or teeth can be placed. A crown, bridge, or denture will be firmly secured to the implant post (or posts).

Outcomes and Benefits of Implants

A prosthetic tooth has a high success rate as a replacement for missing teeth. In some cases, with proper care and routine oral hygiene, they can last upwards of 20 years. To ensure your dental implants remain in top condition, it’s vital to practice recommended oral health maintenance. This means brushing and flossing daily, and having routine dental checkups and exams.

Many of our patients are happy with the results of their dental implants, often commenting on:

  • The comfortable fit and feel of their dental implants
  • The way implants transform their smile (and confidence!)
  • How durable their replacement teeth are
