• Getting to Know Your Dentist

Your dentist is not only here to provide you with high-quality dental services—at Newtown, we want to get to know you. We strive to understand what makes you feel more comfortable and happy (in and out of the dentist’s chair). Ask questions, share your thoughts, and help us build a relationship with you.

• Receiving a Thorough Examination and Cleaning

Your dentist may take digital and/or 3D panoramic X-rays of your teeth. These images will help provide an in-depth view of any dental problems and enable your dentist to create a personalized dental care plan.

Cavity detection is just as important for adults as it is for children. Dr. Shelly and Dr. Nuri provide cancer screenings and utilize the SoproLIFE camera or CariScreen meter to evaluate every patient’s risk of developing cavities.

Your dentist will provide an individualized cleaning session designed for the best oral hygiene and overall health outcomes based on your specific needs.

• Reaping the Rewards of Responsibility

You did it! Despite the endless hours of work, activities, and life’s demands, you made time for your routine dental visit. You completed your exam and cleaning. Now, you should (and will) be rewarded. Choose from a number of rewards, such as champagne, headphones, and more!

Additionally, our patients can earn points as part of our dental rewards program. Social media engagement, survey participation, and other activities will have you racking up reward points toward some great prizes.

• Having a Hands-On Dental Experience

Your child can learn the ropes of brushing and flossing and provide a dental exam and cleaning for a Newtown Dentistry resident puppet!

• Getting to Know Your Dentist

You and your child have a meet and greet with Dr. Chris. This session includes asking questions, sharing concerns, and building a relationship (be sure to ask her about her favorite Disney character)!

• Receiving a Thorough Examination and Cleaning

To help ensure the best oral health outcomes, Dr. Chris may have digital X-rays taken of your children’s teeth. This safe and effective process helps Dr. Chris ensure that your child’s teeth are developing correctly and help preemptively correct any issues.

We also have two innovative cavity detection methods. The first method is the SoproLIFE camera that utilizes LED to emit a harmless blue light to detect the presence of dental caries. The second is the CariScreen meter: a device that uses a simple plaque swab to determine your child’s risk of developing cavities.

After a complete examination and cleaning, your child receives a fluoride application. Depending on the needs of the patient, we offer fluoride varnish treatment as well as silver diamine fluoride treatment.

For the cavity-free mouth, a fluoride varnish is all that’s needed. Following the fluoride varnish, your child can immediately eat and drink, so there’s no need to worry about eating late.

If your child does have a cavity forming, the silver diamine fluoride treatment, which prevents cavities in 70 to 90 percent of treated teeth! Following the treatment, patients should not eat for at least an hour after the appointment and should not brush their teeth until the following morning.
