Silver Diamine Fluoride
Silver diamine fluoride is a safe, FDA-approved antibiotic liquid used by dentists to control active dental caries—or cavities—and prevent further decay. The treatment is so easy, low-risk, and painless that we offer it as a part of your child’s routine checkup. This noninvasive application prevents the growth of cavities 70-90% of the time.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are thin coatings painted on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars) to block out germs and food. Once applied, sealants protect against 80% of cavities for two years and continue to protect against 50% of cavities for up to four years. School-age children (ages 6-11) without sealants have almost three times more first molar cavities than those with sealants.
Tooth Extractions
There are a number of reasons a tooth extraction may be recommended for your child: infection under the tooth (known as an abscess), a cavity too large to fill or crown, overcrowding teeth, or orthodontic applications. While adult extractions are done by an oral surgeon, our pediatric dentists perform the extractions in-house at a special appointment.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
In an effort to ensure your child has a relaxing, stress-free dental experience, we offer nitrous oxide—or laughing gas. To administer laughing gas, we gently place over their nose a breathing mask that supplies oxygen mixed with laughing gas. Within a few minutes, your child will start to feel relaxed. Dental laughing gas is safe, quick to act, and quick to wear off.
Hall Crowns
If your child experiences dental anxiety, Hall crowns are a good method of managing various primary molars. Preformed metal crowns, also known as stainless steel crowns, cover the molars and do not require local anesthesia, tissue removal, or tooth preparation of any kind. When following up after 15 months, 97% of placed Hall crowns were found to be successful.
CariScreen Caries Susceptibility Test
The CariScreen Caries Susceptibility Test is a simple, one-minute, chair-side, pain-free, swab bacterial test for assessing your child’s risk for caries. Our dentist will swab a small amount of plaque from your child’s teeth and combine it with a special reagent (embedded in the swab). The CariScreen Meter provides a score between 0 and 9,999 for the risk of caries—anything under 1,500 is in the positive range.

3D Panorex Dental Imaging
To achieve a precise level of dental care for your child, we use a state-of-the-art 3D Panorex digital X-ray imaging system. The camera is noninvasive and safe. It works by rotating a small burst of light around your child’s head to capture very detailed images of their teeth.
LightScapel CO2 Laser
To help correct tongue-ties, our dentists perform a tongue-tie release utilizing a LightScapel CO2 laser. Parents love the LightScapel CO2 laser because it makes the in-house surgery quick, sedation-free, and pain-free. There’s no bleeding, and it comes with a rapid recovery time.
