How Do Invisible Aligners Work?

Clear aligners work similarly to braces in that they address a number of orthodontic issues, which include:

• Overbite
• Underbite
• Crossbite
• Gap teeth
• Open bite
• Teeth crowding

While both braces and clear aligners correct the issues above, this is where the similarities end. Unlike traditional metal brackets and wires (as with traditional braces), Invisalign and 3M Clarity Aligners work by adjusting the teeth with a progressive set of aligners. Although the number of aligners each person has varies depending on the specific treatment plan, most sets are swapped out every two weeks or so, until treatment is complete.

Benefits of Clear Aligner Treatment

One of the most obvious and patient-favorite benefits of clear aligners is that they are much less conspicuous than metal braces. Aligners are removable, as well. How Long Are Full Treatment Times?

Treatment time is different for each patient. Often, the completion of clear aligner orthodontic care mimics that of braces—18 to 36 months.
